The decision to commission or produce a new work can have significant implications for fundraising. New work is expensive, and ticket income covers only a portion of the exceptional costs. The development staff has to convince individual donors and institutional funders to invest in the entire creative process from commission, through rehearsals to opening night. But how? Nicole Ambos Freber of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis will lead a panel discussion with members of the St. Louis funding community about why they choose to fund works in the company’s New Works, Bold Voices series.

This session is one of several breakout sessions held concurrently during the New Works Forum.

The New Works Forum is made possible by a generous and deeply appreciated grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Advance registration required. No additional fee.
