Chief Development Officer
Nationally recognized fundraising professional, Elizabeth Hurley, serves as the Chief Development Officer for Lyric Opera of Chicago. Hurley recently joined Lyric in March of 2018 already having a prestigious career of more than 30 years of experience in arts administration with a deep working knowledge of fundraising strategy and execution. At Lyric, Hurley oversees a staff of around 40 of the top fundraisers in the field, raising an Annual Campaign of over $30M a year, and she serves as the Assistant Secretary of the organization’s Board of Directors. Hurley came to Lyric from the world renowned Juilliard School, where she served as the Vice President for Development and Public Affairs, overseeing a 40-person team responsible for all philanthropic, marketing, performance, retail, and communications activity. During her tenure at Juilliard, she completed a total reorganization of the development and public affairs staff and strategy, and created new development operations functions focusing on data analysis, research, and reporting. Hurley has previously served as the Managing Director of Development for the United States Olympic Committee and the Director of Development for the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She has also held leadership roles at some of Chicago’s most significant cultural institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Grant Park Music Festival, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
