Cecilia Nadal is the Executive Director of Gitana Productions, which she founded in 1996. Using music and the dramatic arts to encourage acceptance between diverse populations, Gitana was the region’s first arts organization with a focus on cross-cultural engagement through the arts. Since 2007 Gitana’s year-round Global Education through the Arts program has recruited young immigrants, refugees and people of color to learn how to work together through dance, drama and cultural diversity training.

Through her career, Cecilia Nadal has focused on helping underserved and disadvantaged members of the St. Louis community as a college professor, counselor, and as the founder of Productive Futures, an award-winning employment and training agency for immigrants and the chronically unemployed.

Cecilia has received national and regional awards for her work as a civic leader and is hailed as someone who can understand all sides of an issue to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. In 2017 the Ethical Society of St. Louis recognized her with the Ethics in Action Award. She has received recognition from Women of Achievement, the St. Louis Visionary Award for Community Impact in the Arts, YWCA Women in Leadership, Leadership St. Louis and was cited as one of the “100 Most Influential People in St. Louis” by St. Louis Magazine.
