2018/19 marks the start of Larry’s 19th season as General Director & CEO of Manitoba Opera. Larry has been privileged to hold a number of leadership positions in his career, having served as the Associate Artistic Director of the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Founding Producer of the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, the Executive Director of the Winnipeg Film Group, and the Producer/Director of the 1999 Pan American Games opening and closing ceremonies.

Larry is a founding board member of Manitobans for the Arts, the Past Chair of Opera.ca, and currently serves on the board of Opera America. He is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Winnipeg, and the 2012 recipient of the Winnipeg Arts Council Making a Difference Award for his contribution arts in Manitoba, and the 2018 honoree of the Italian-Canadian Foundation of Manitoba for his advancement of opera in Manitoba.

A theatre director by training, Larry has directed numerous theatre productions across Canada. Among the operas he has staged from Manitoba Opera is the world premiere of Transit of Venus in 2007, and his ground-breaking production of Fidelio in 2014, incorporating participants from Winnipeg’s refugee community.
