Artistic Director Peggy Kriha Dye is responsible for all production staff, and Opera Columbus’ programming, including mainstage productions, Opera on the Edge productions and education and community outreach programs.

Also a professional opera singer, Peggy played the title role in Armide with the prestigious Opera Atelier in Toronto’s Elgin Theatre, The Royal Opera in Versailles, and the Glimmerglass Festival in 2012. Her performance was noted in The New York Times, stating, “Peggy Kriha Dye, a soprano, sang the formidable title role with alluring sound and urgency.” This April, Peggy sang Eurydice in Gluck’s Orphèe and in 2014, she performed the role of Merope in Opera Atelier’s production of Lully’s Persée in both Toronto and Versailles, where Persée had not been on stage since it inaugurated the Royal Opera House in 1770, during the wedding celebrations of the future King Louis XVI to Marie Antoinette.
Over the course of her career, she has also performed with the Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Shanghai Opera, and many others. She has also recently worked on a production of Lucio Silla with the Salzburg Festival.
Peggy holds a BA in music from St. Cloud State University (MN) and a Master’s in music from the Manhattan School of Music (NY). She has also trained at The Juilliard Opera Center, apprenticed with the Merola Opera, and been selected as an Adler Fellow with the San Francisco Opera. Prior to joining Opera Columbus, Peggy served as an adjunct professor with Kenyon College.

Peggy is a member of the Opera America Leadership Intensive program, the Columbus Cultural Leadership Consortium, AGMA and CAE.
