Bass-Baritone and St. Louis native, Robert McNichols, Jr., is the Associate Professor of Music for Harris-Stowe State University. There he teaches courses in vocal music and conducts the Concert Chorale. He was previously the Manager of Community Events and Engagement for Opera theater of St Louis, and also the Assistant Director of Education for Lyric Opera of Kansas City.
Recent accolades for McNichols include being a 2016 - 2017 Fellowship Artist Grant recipient from the Regional Arts Commission. The funding he received helped him create and produce several concert programs and collaborations with area organizations including "A Classical Cabaret" with The Black Rep, and Phillip Hayes Dean's one-man show "Paul Robeson" with Theater Lawrence.
Upcoming programs for McNichols includes being a guest soloist with the Legend Singers on their upcoming concert, the baritone soloist in "Carmina Burana" with the William Baker Festival singers, producing a solo recital at the Sheldon Memorial concert hall, and also a concert version of an opera with artists in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
